Shire of Narrogin Congratulates Newly Elected State Representatives and Looks Forward to Delivery on Election Commitments

The Shire of Narrogin extends its congratulations to the re-elected Cook Labor Government and newly elected Members of Parliament following the results of the Western Australian State Election on Saturday, 8 March 2025.

Shire President Leigh Ballard commended Premier Roger Cook and his government on their successful campaign and welcomed the opportunity to work closely with the new and returning representatives to ensure that the commitments made to the Narrogin region are upheld.

"We congratulate the re-elected Member for Roe, Peter Rundle MLA of The Nationals, as well as the Members of the Legislative Council," said President Ballard. "The people of Narrogin and the wider Wheatbelt region are looking forward to seeing the commitments made during the campaign become a reality."

The Shire particularly acknowledges the commitments made by the Cook Labor Government, including:

  • $20,000 for Divine You Narrogin to assist with cool room and accessibility upgrades, supporting essential food relief services.
  • $28,000 for the Narrogin Repertory Club to upgrade Thornton Theatre, ensuring continued access to quality performing arts in the region.
  • $40,000 for Arts Narrogin to enhance their facilities at the Railway Institute Building owned by the Shire but leased to the group to strengthen the local arts and cultural scene.
  • $300,000 towards planning a new Narrogin Emergency Services Precinct, for the Shire’s Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades and SES Unit ensuring emergency personnel have the necessary resources to keep the community safe.
  • Negotiations for public control of freight rail, which is critical to the future of agricultural logistics and regional economic growth.

"Now that the election has been decided, our focus as a Council is to ensure that these promises are delivered. We will be actively engaging with the new State Government and our elected representatives to ensure our community receives its fair share of support and investment," said President Ballard.

The Shire of Narrogin looks forward to a continuing productive partnership with the State Government and urges all newly elected representatives to work collaboratively in delivering these vital commitments for the benefit of the region.
