Temporary Suspension of Burning Permits
As we approach the Easter weekend, it is crucial to be mindful of our environment and take necessary precautions to ensure everyone's safety. In line with this, we want to inform the public about a temporary suspension of burning permits during the Easter weekend.
From midnight Thursday 28 March, until midnight on Monday 1st, April, all permits to burn stubble and garden waste during the restricted burning period will be suspended. All fires, except those designated for fire pits and cooking over open flames, must be extinguished by midnight on Thursday 28 March.
This measure is essential to mitigate the risk of wildfires and protect our communities.
Please note that during this period, exceptions will be made for fire pit usage and cooking over open fires. However, these activities must be conducted with utmost caution and adherence to safety guidelines.
Key Points to Remember:
- Restricted Burning Period: The temporary suspension of burning permits applies specifically to the Easter weekend from Thursday 28March to Monday 1April.
- No Burning Permitted: All permits to burn stubble and garden waste are suspended during this time to prevent wildfires and ensure public safety.
- Exceptions: Fire pit usage and cooking over open fires are allowed. However, individuals must exercise extreme caution and follow safety protocols.
We urge everyone to cooperate and refrain from burning stubble and garden waste during the Easter weekend. Let's all do our part to keep our environment safe and protect our communities from the risk of wildfires. Together, we can make a difference in safeguarding our environment and ensuring the well-being of our communities.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to safety during this Easter weekend.
