Community Information Sessions to discuss Narrogin Williams Rail Trail Study

The Shires of Narrogin and Williams are investigating the feasibility of constructing a recreation trail on the disused railway between Narrogin and Williams and the project has entered an important stage with two community consultation sessions to take place in September.

The Shire has engaged consultants to prepare the Narrogin Williams Rail Trail Feasibility Study. The study is an important step in determining whether a trail for cyclists and hikers along the (currently) disused railway corridor has merit.

The consultant, Mike Maher from Transplan Pty Ltd, will host an ‘Open House’ where members of the community can drop in and discuss the project.

The sessions will provide information about the project via a display and one-on-one conversations as well as providing an opportunity for community members to ask questions.

Session Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, 11 September 2024
  • Times: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Location: John Higgins Centre, 50 Clayton Road, Narrogin

The drop-in sessions are designed to visually showcase what the rail trail might look like if constructed. The sessions will feature a display of the proposed rail trail, including photos of the current corridor and artist’s impressions of the potential transformation post-construction. The display will also include photographs from other rail trails. The consultation sessions also designed to show solutions for perceived problems, drawing on successful rail trails elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand.
